  1. Verify that you are in good standing (Active Status) with the Board.
    1. If you are not in good standing (Delinquent Status), you must first pay all penalty fees that are due in order to go Inactive.

    2. If you are not in good standing (Canceled Status),  you are ineligible for inactivation
  2. Read, fill out and sign the Inactivation Form.
  3. Fax, Mail or Email your completed and signed Inactivation Form to the AZBTR (if there is no penalty fee):

Additional Information

Alarm Agents, Controlling Persons, Firms, Branches and Alarm Businesses cannot be placed on Inactive Status. 

Statute: ARS 32-127

A registrant who retires from the active practice of any board-regulated profession or occupation or who is not currently practicing that board-regulated profession or occupation in the state of Arizona may request that the board place the registrant's certificate of registration or certification on inactive status.  The registrant shall submit the request in writing to the board.

If the board has invalidated, pursuant to A.R.S. § 32-127(B), the certificate of registration of a registrant who seeks to place the certificate of registration on inactive status, the registrant shall submit all penalty fees that are due with the registrant's application for inactive status.

A registrant shall not place the registrant's certificate of registration on inactive status if the person's certificate of registration has been canceled by the board pursuant to A.R.S. § 32-127(C).

Per A.A.C. R4-30-247(F): A home inspector who places a home inspector certificate on inactive status shall retain the proof of financial assurance for at least two years after the date that the certificate becomes inactive.  A home inspector who fails to retain financial assurance for the required two years is subject to suspension and revocation of the home inspection certificate as per subsection (E).

Reactivation fee ($100 application fee & $225 registration renewal fee) $325
 
Additional Information

In order for an Architect, Engineer, Geologist, Landscape Architect or Land Surveyor to reactivate a registration that has been on inactive status, the registrant must complete an application and meet the qualifications of professional registration as set forth in ARS 32-122.01. A registrant who has not been engaged in the profession for the five years immediately preceding the date for the application for reactivation shall take the applicable professional examination.

Additional Information

In order for a home inspector to reactivate a certificate that has been on inactive status, the home inspector must complete an application and meet the qualifications of certification set forth in ARS 32-122.02. A home inspector who has not been engaged in performing home inspections anytime within the five years immediately preceding the date of the application for reactivation shall take the applicable home inspector examination approved by the Board.

Any person who has had a registration or certificate cancelled must apply to the Board as a new candidate.
