All applicants must obtain pre-authorization approval to sit for an examination either:
Manually though The Arizona Board of Technical Registration: You should submit an application to sit for the examination to the Board if you do not have an ABET accredited degree or do not have any formal education at all. The Board’s approval process may take two to six months depending on the applicant’s qualifications and timely submission of required documents. If the Board has not received an application from you and approved you to sit for a national examination, you will not be authorized to take a NCEES examination.
Auto-approval through NCEES: This option is only available to applicants with an ABET accredited bachelor’s degree or an ABET accredited master’s degree. Not all engineer degrees are ABET accredited. Refer to http://www.abet.org/ to determine if your degree is ABET accredited. If it is, you may register directly with NCEES to take the national exams. Be sure to fill out the education portion of the examination registration. Failing to do so may result in a failure to be auto-approved.
Note: Auto approval requires that your transcripts from an ABET accredited program have also been submitted to NCEES and that your passing FE score is verified on your NCEES account.
The application for exam authorization can be found under the Forms tab.
