Attention Home Inspectors
A Home Inspector Rules and Standards Committee Member's term is coming up. The Board is now accepting Letters of Interest from interested Applicants. The Board hopes to review and possibly appoint/reappoint the member at its next regularly scheduled Board Meeting January 28, 2020.
Information About the Position
The board-appointed members serve staggered three-year terms. These members shall be home inspectors, shall each have at least five years of experience as a home inspector and shall have passed the examination prescribed in section 32-122.02. The board by a majority vote may remove any member for misconduct, incapacity or neglect of duty and may appoint a new member to complete a term. Members of the home inspector rules and standards committee are eligible to receive compensation pursuant to title 38, chapter 4, article 1.
Responsibilities of the Position
The committee is responsible for drafting and recommending to the board:
1. Criteria for home inspector certification.
2. Standards for home inspection reports.
3. Standards for written examinations.
4. Standards for educational programs, including course of study, programs and continuing education.
5. Rules defining conduct.
6. Recommendations for types of financial assurances as required in section 32-122.02.
7. Other rules and standards related to the practice of home inspectors.
The committee may participate in the investigation and review of home inspector complaints as provided by the board.
The Committee meets on average three to four times a year at the Board's office at 1110 W. Washington St. Suite 240 Phoenix AZ 85007.

Email, Word Document and PDF are all acceptable formats for submission. Alternatively, you can fax your Letter of Interest to 602-364-4931 or mail to the Arizona Board of Technical Registration 1110 W. Washington St. Suite 240 Phoenix AZ 85007 with attention to Kurt Winter.
Your Letter of Interest should indicate that you meet the minimum criteria to be a HIRSC member (five years experience as a home inspector and passed the National Exam). While not a requirement, the Board does prefer that an applicant already be an EAC member or somehow involved with the Board.
Letters of Interest will be submitted to the Board for review and selection at one of its future Board Meetings. These meetings are open to the public.
